The Outspoken Action team
is responsible for putting out a bi-monthly newspaper for teens,
by teens.
Opportunities on this action team include writing articles,
taking photos, helping with the design and layout, and editing
and contributing graphics. The Outspoken action team meets the
first and third Mondays of every month.
Outspoken is written and produced by
Bellevue teens under the auspices of Youth Link, which is a
project sponsored by the City of Bellevue and Bellevue Public
Schools. It has a circulation of 3,500 copies bi-monthly on the
Eastside.
Youth Link supports the efforts of
young people by providing them with training, adult guidance,
and equipment they need to create this publication. Young
people write about a wide variety of youth topics and shared
youth views about many subjects.
Outspoken is a unique publication. It
gives young people the opportunity and the adult support and
training they need to produce a monthly publication. With
adult support, and under the direction of a youth editor,
young people develop story ideas, write articles, take
photographs, develop graphics and layout, and produce a
publication with youth flair and insight. Work on this
publication gives youth the opportunity to develop
professional skills and provides them a valuable forum to
explore issues that matter to teens. You can now read
